Egypt has a fantastic history and a trip to Sharm can be easily combined with a trip to the capital Cairo, the Pyramids or other sites of interest. Trips can be planned in advance or with a local agent in the shopping halls in Nabq or Naama Bay. Daily flights are available with Egyptair, the flight is about 1 hour each way and often means an early start and late finish to the day! - A trip to Cairo using the bus service will mean a 6-8 hr journey through the desert each way.
Cairo and the Pyramids
There are many hotels to choose from in Cairo ranking from the basic to total luxury, and of course location is key to what you intend to do. Choose a hotel that is central to your plans, there are plenty of taxi's and they are cheap, you should be able to get a taxi for the day for around £25. Locals do expect a tip,  but as usual use your discretion.
If you want to relax with a view of the pyramids in the evening, check out the Meridien, Sofitel, Movenpick, Mena House or Oberoi hotels, these are generally European city prices.
Flying to Cairo from Sharm is easy and allows for a more relaxing time in the city. Often people try to squeeze everything in on a short trip and don't get chance to see all they wish too. Plan what you want to do, discuss it with a travel agent and allow sufficient time to make the whole experience memorable.
